Bio

Commander Justin Grayless began his firefighting career as a volunteer/paid per-call firefighter with the Milton Fire Department in Milton, Wisconsin, while studying Fire Science at Blackhawk Technical College. In 2011, after obtaining his fire certifications and EMT credentials, he relocated to Cleveland, Tennessee, to join Bradley County Fire Rescue (BCFR). At BCFR, he was assigned to frontline Station 8, where he trained under some of the department’s most experienced personnel. Captain Stoney Mathews mentored him in rescue operations, and Chief Jeff Stewart provided instruction on incident command.

In May 2020, Grayless was promoted to Lieutenant and took charge of his own crew at Station 11. This role allowed him to develop his leadership skills and make significant contributions to his battalion’s training and operations.

By January 2024, Grayless was promoted to Battalion Commander of Battalion 2, where he now leads a skilled battalion, bringing a wealth of certifications and expertise in Hazmat, Technical Rescue, and fire operations. Despite his dedication to his profession, his greatest joy remains at home with his three beautiful children and loving wife.
